About Our Farm

Welcome to Funky Feathers Fancy Poultry Farm. Thanks for visiting our website.

If you are not familiar with us yet, we started out in 2001 with 2 ducks and 2 chickens. Since then we have expanded to approximately 100 birds, mostly rare, hard to find exotics. We have ducks and chickens only. We are located on a 14 acre farm on Maryland's Eastern Shore, 30 miles South of Cambridge, in a little town called Bishops Head.

We are a family owned and operated farm, not a big commercial hatchery. Our farm is owned by Richard A. Kendall, SR. and managed by Stephanie Kuhn. I, Stephanie, operate the farm at home. Richard helps me with the heavy work.

We are licensed through the state of MD and the USDA. We have a permit to sell hatching eggs & birds and to operate a hatchery. We are NPIP certified (#51-370), meaning our birds are clean and healthy. We get them tested for A.I. (Bird Flu) every 90 days. They have also been tested for Mycoplasma. I plan on showing our birds at least 3 times in 2008, in Harrington, DE. We will be at the Delmarva Poultry Fanciers' Show in April, the Delaware State Fair in July, and the American Bantam Association National Show in November.

We are members of the Polish Chickens Club, the Delmarva Poultry Fanciers' Club, The American Silkie Bantam Club and MAWBA (Mid-Atlantic Waterfowl Breeders' Ass'n).

We pride ourselves in keeping our our birds healthy and happy. I spend 2-4 hours each day feeding, watering, and cleaning out my pens. Everyone who has visited our farm has said we have the cleanest poultry pens they have ever seen.

Here is our list of the breeds we offer:

Ducks-Crested Blue Swedish, Crested White Pekin, Crested Blue Indian Runner (one Grey hen & one Black hen), White Mallards, Mandarins (eggs only), Black East Indies (one drake is Crested), and Call Ducks in Blue, Crested White, Butterscotch, Magpie and Chocolate.

Chickens-Bantam Polish in Silver Laced and Bearded Buff Laced/Frizzled,

Excellent quality Bearded Silkies in Buff and Blue/ Splash. We bought our breeding stock from some of the top breeders in the country, who do not want their names or bloodlines advertised, so we respect that. We also raise Delaware Blues, the Delaware State Bird, very rare indeed.

We sell most of our birds & all of our eggs online at an online poultry auction called Eggbid.com. Our username is "Birdy42". Look for our auctions, we ship eggs & birds anywhere in the US. We ship our birds USPS Express Mail, and our eggs USPS Priority Mail. Eggs usually arrive in 2 days. I pack the eggs very carefully, each egg wrapped individually in bubble wrap, and floated in shredded newspaper which I cut & shred myself. I have been told by fellow eggbidders that I am the best egg packer on eggbid. Although the post offices can be very rough on the eggs, tossing and kicking the boxes around. I have complained about this to no avail. Therefore, once the eggs leave my hands your hatch rate is out of my control. I do guarantee fresh, safely packed eggs. I always send extras if available for fast payment (Instant PayPal), sometimes LOTS of extras! :) We also sell locally, and welcome you to our farm. Just email or call and we will give you the address for Mapquest. We do not sell eggs outside the auction, with the exception of Delaware Blue eggs. They are $25/dozen + shipping outside the auction. Must have Paypal to buy eggs.
